A quick post to inform those of you in the Boulder area that Iranian human rights lawyer and 2003 Nobel Peace prize laureate, Shirin Ebadi, will be in Boulder on Friday and Saturday this week. Ebadi has been invited by Naropa University's Peace Studies Department and the Cordoba Initiative to participate in an international symposium on women's leadership and activism in the Muslim world. She'll be keynoting on Friday, October 9 at 7 p.m. at Naropa University. Her speech is entitled, "Human Rights and Women's Rights in Islam."The symposium on Saturday will feature other notable Muslim scholars and pioneering activists in conflict resolution and peacebuilding, community organizing, human rights, interfaith dialogue, media activism, and Islamic thought.
