According to AFP, opposition leaders in Algeria have called for massive demonstrations there on February 12 with "the intention to change the regime." Many Arab countries are following the events in Egypt through Aljazeera and  regimes there are bracing for a new era of domestic politics. It's not premature to say that Arab leaders have heard the message loud and clear (even if Mubarak refuses to step down) that ruling with an iron fist can no longer be tolerated. Governance is not an absolute power that's inherited and Tunisians and Egyptians have made it clear that without public consensus there is no government. Western leaders have also heard a clear message that appeasing dictatorships to safeguard their strategic interests can no longer be done at the expense of ordinary Arabs. President Obama is making the right moves by toughening the tone against Mubarak, but he needs to show that he's the only American president who's sided with people in the streets who are clamoring for democracy. This is Obama's moment to tell Mubarak and other Arab leaders, "Mr. Mubarak: tear down this wall"
