The Sociology of Islam and Muslim Societies has a new website. It has a number of interesting features like reflection pieces by scholars in the field, a forum where registered members can post questions and comments, interviews and many useful announcements. Currently, the site features a short piece by Charles Kurzman lamenting the sudden and narrow interest in Islam in sociology, an essay by Rachel Woodlock on the interpretation of hijab and authority in Islam, and an interview with Tzvi Langermann on Islamic Studies and Islam in Israel. The forum hasn't started yet, but it's an important addition to the debate on Islam.
